Who is Umino Kasumi? Kasumi appears to be cold, detached, and unfeeling, and is infact all of those--except the unfeeling part. However, another side of her personality is a more cheerful, warm side which rarely sees the light of day due to a general feeling of unhappiness. Kasumi is the second daughter of Umino (Mizuno) Ami and Mitsuru and has always lived in the shadow of her older sister Megami. None of Kasumi's accomplishments in school, nor her superior intelligence seemed to be better than what her older sister did. Unaware that Ami and Mitsuru were neglecting their child, they also failed to see that the lack of love and attention turned a precocious, loving child into a bitter, angry, hateful teenager. Inside her heart she feels pain and longs to be loved by someone else. To escape from the problems in her life, she turned to teaching herself all sorts of interesting things, such as the English language, and reading English-language literature. Kasumi is often cold and biting to her Senshi "friends," never missing an opportunity for a snide comment or remark. She has few friends because she feared that someone else would try to hurt her if they got close. In the past, she was friends with Morino Ryuu and Shino Seishi, but as time went on, she became very resentful of Seishi and Ryuu's relationship. Her love for Ryuu and hatred for Seishi only complicated matters amongst the Neo Sailor Senshi. The irony of course, is that the power of Mercury which resides inside Kasumi is very, very strong. She is the most powerful, by far, of the Neo Inner Senshi, and perhaps the second strongest in the entire Sailor Team. Neo Mercury is aggressive, dedicated, and loyal. She takes her job very seriously and understands the meaning of sacrifice. She would give her life for the sake of justice. She is often annoyed at the fact the other Neo Senshi do not share her sense of duty and mission, but also prides herself in the fact that she is something they all are not. Attacks & Powers Mercury Cosmic Power, Make Up! Kasumi shouts these words while raising her henshin wand to the sky. Translucent blue wings appear on her back and then disappear. Shimmery blue water washes over her and turns to ice beneath her feet. The ice then rises up and encircles her in double-helix spiraling bands (Whee! DNA!) which forms around her and encases her in ice. The ice then shatters, revealing a girl dressed in a Sailorfuku. To finish her transformation, she poses with her arms crossed, and icy glare fixed on her face. Aqua Ice Purification Neo Sailormercury shouts this and a blue ball of ice appears in her hands and shoots forward, striking the ground to gain momentum leaving a trail of frost as it travels towards an enemy. The ball then splits into two and flies around the enemy, a circle of frost appearing on the ground as the ice spirals closer and closer to the flesh. The balls swirl faster and closer turning the flesh into ice until the enemy is encased in ice. (However, the pain of the body freezing is enough to make most people die..)
